This weeks topic:
Contemporary vs. Fantasy
My answer: When it comes to Contemporary vs. Fantasy and which one I prefer to read. I'm almost always going to choose Contemporary. I don't have anything against Fantasy novels it's just most of the time I don't find the situations believable, so that impacts my view on the book. With contemporary it's just so much more realistic, well at least for me it is. I'm still in high school so I can relate to the situations that the characters in YA contemporary are put in most of the time because they are such common things.
I guess it really depends on the book, the characters, and the plot. I like fantasy novels just as much as contemporary, it's just I tend to lean towards reading contemporary.
What about you?
Do you prefer Contemporary or Fantasy?

I prefer contemporary, don't read many fantasy because...well...because it's just not real :). I just can't feel absorbed in to world(s) that are never exist.
ReplyDeleteFantasy but you can read my longer response at WIW Happy Reading!
ReplyDeleteI think "believable" is really important, too. Good answer, even if I picked the other one.
ReplyDeleteI prefer contemporary. I feel the situations and problems are more believable. I also find that the romance aspect of contemporaries are more to my liking because the couples actually like each other - not just 'let's save the world, and oh yeah, while we're busy getting our butts kicked we'll fall in love...'
